Auction result well in line with expectations

The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 35,000.00 (€ 41,302.02) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Alexander Nasmyth - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work View of Dreghorn Castle, Midlothian, with figures and a hay cart in the foreground, which sold at auction in October 2005 for GBP 72,000.00 (€ 106,178.24).
