Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Mark Rothko by Alexander Liberman was auctioned at Bonhams in July this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 800.00 – 1,200.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 768.00 (€ 696.91). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Alexander Liberman achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Solstice Vii in March 2017 with an auction result of USD 40,000.00 (€ 37,390.17).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Mark Rothko von Alexander Liberman im Juli diesen Jahres bei Bonhams versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 800,00 – 1.200,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 768,00 (€ 696,91) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Alexander Liberman erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Solstice Vii im März 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 40.000,00 (€ 37.390,17).
