In the Post-War & Contemporary Art Day Sale auction, the work Self-Portrait (Palms) sold for USD 100,000.00 (€ 82,007.54) - well above the upper estimate of USD 50,000.00. Admittedly, works by Alex Israel have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Sky Backdrop in May 2014 with an auction result of USD 1,025,000.00 (€ 751,466.28).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Alex Israel erzielte im Mai 2021 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Post-War & Contemporary Art Day Sale wurde die Arbeit Self-Portrait (Palms) für USD 100.000,00 (€ 82.007,54) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 50.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Alex Israel auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Sky Backdrop im Mai 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.025.000,00 (€ 751.466,28).
