Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Legno Nero Rosso by Alberto Burri was auctioned at Sothebys in London in March last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000,000.00 – 4,000,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,181,000.00 (€ 3,771,433.52) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Alberto Burri - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Sacco E Rosso, which sold at auction in February 2016 for GBP 9,109,000.00 (€ 11,672,058.70).
