It achieved a price of GBP 43,750.00 (€ 51,035.90), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 46%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Albert Birkle achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Irrsinn in June this year with an auction result of EUR 900,000.00.

Die Arbeit Schächer (Felon) von Albert Birkle wurde im Februar 2019 in der Auktion Impressionist & Modern Art Day Sale bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 43.750,00 (€ 51.035,90) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 46%. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Albert Birkle erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Irrsinn im Juni diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 900.000,00.
