Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Pearl of the Orient by Zhong Biao was auctioned at Christies in Hong Kong in April this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of HKD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for HKD 17,640.00 (€ 18,013.89). Admittedly, works by Zhong Biao have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Marksman in March 2008 with an auction result of USD 121,000.00 (€ 76,558.05).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Pearl of the Orient von Zhong Biao im April diesen Jahres bei Christies in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von HKD 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für HKD 17.640,00 (€ 18.013,89) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Zhong Biao auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Marksman im März 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 121.000,00 (€ 76.558,05).
