This artwork by Zhao Gang achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in May 2018. In the Contemporary Art Asia: New York Edition auction, the work Untitled (The Saint) sold for USD 11,875.00 (€ 10,175.66) - well above the upper estimate of USD 5,000.00. Admittedly, works by Zhao Gang have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work without title in December 2013 with an auction result of CNY 472,000.00 (€ 56,589.30).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Zhao Gang erzielte im Mai 2018 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Contemporary Art Asia: New York Edition wurde die Arbeit Untitled (The Saint) für USD 11.875,00 (€ 10.175,66) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 5.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Zhao Gang auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit ohne Titel im Dezember 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von CNY 472.000,00 (€ 56.589,30).
