The »bidding war« ended at USD 6,250.00 (€ 5,599.35), 25% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Zhang Wentao have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Calligraphy in April 2014 with an auction result of HKD 483,000.00 (€ 44,922.13).

Die Arbeit Poem In Running Script von Zhang Wentao wurde im September 2015 in der Auktion Fine Classical Chinese Paintings & Calligraphy bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 6.250,00 (€ 5.599,35) und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Zhang Wentao auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Calligraphy im April 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 483.000,00 (€ 44.922,13).
