The work Calligraphy And Paintings by Zhang Wentao was worth HKD 236,000.00 (€ 25,267.50) to a buyer in April 2021. This price was achieved in the auction Fine Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy at China Guardian in Hong Kong and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of HKD 50,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Zhang Wentao; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Calligraphy sold at auction in April 2014 with the realized price of HKD 483,000.00 (€ 44,922.13).
