In November 2019 Christies in Hong Kong held the auction Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy, which included the work Chrysanthemum and Rock/Running Script Calligraphy by Zhang Wentao. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 81,250.00 (€ 9,423.50), 63% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Zhang Wentao have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Calligraphy in April 2014 with an auction result of HKD 483,000.00 (€ 44,922.13).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 63 % übertroffen
Im November 2019 führte Christies in Hong Kong die Auktion Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy durch, in der auch die Arbeit Chrysanthemum and Rock/Running Script Calligraphy von Zhang Wentao zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 81.250,00 (€ 9.423,50) und damit 63% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Zhang Wentao auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Calligraphy im April 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 483.000,00 (€ 44.922,13).
