This artwork by Zhang Chong achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in September 2016. In the The Roy and Marilyn Papp Collection of Chinese Paintings auction, the work Scholars Drinking In A Small Pavilion sold for USD 43,750.00 (€ 38,930.41) - well above the upper estimate of USD 22,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Zhang Chong; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Ink Peony sold at auction in November 2015 with the realized price of HKD 475,000.00 (€ 58,014.58).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Zhang Chong erzielte im September 2016 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion The Roy and Marilyn Papp Collection of Chinese Paintings wurde die Arbeit Scholars Drinking In A Small Pavilion für USD 43.750,00 (€ 38.930,41) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 22.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Zhang Chong; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Ink Peony im November 2015 mit dem Hammerpreis von HKD 475.000,00 (€ 58.014,58).
