Auction result well in line with expectations
In March 2019 Sothebys in New York held the auction Fine Classical Chinese Paintings & Calligraphy, which included the work Portrait Of Zhang Guolao by Zhang Chong. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 8,125.00 (€ 7,236.37) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Zhang Chong have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Ink Peony in November 2015 with an auction result of HKD 475,000.00 (€ 58,014.58).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im März 2019 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Fine Classical Chinese Paintings & Calligraphy durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait Of Zhang Guolao von Zhang Chong zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 8.125,00 (€ 7.236,37) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Zhang Chong auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Ink Peony im November 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 475.000,00 (€ 58.014,58).
