This artwork by Yusuf Grillo achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in March last year. In the Modern & Contemporary African Art | and CCA Lagos Benefit Auction auction, the work We live in the deep, 1960-70 sold for GBP 56,700.00 (€ 67,224.23) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 20,000.00. Admittedly, works by Yusuf Grillo have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Seventh Knot, 1969 (Framed) in March this year with an auction result of GBP 403,500.00 (€ 459,059.19).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Yusuf Grillo erzielte im März letzten Jahres bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Modern & Contemporary African Art | and CCA Lagos Benefit Auction wurde die Arbeit We live in the deep, 1960-70 für GBP 56.700,00 (€ 67.224,23) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 20.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Yusuf Grillo auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Seventh Knot, 1969 (Framed) im März diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 403.500,00 (€ 459.059,19).
