Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Yokoyama Taikan achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in May 2000. In the Japanese Modern and Contemporary Paintings auction, the work Chikurin no tsuki (Moon over bamboo grove) sold for USD 64,625.00 (€ 69,280.66) - well above the upper estimate of USD 30,000.00. Admittedly, works by Yokoyama Taikan have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Miho no Fujisan (Mount Fuji from Miho) in November 2000 with an auction result of USD 358,000.00 (€ 411,778.24).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Yokoyama Taikan erzielte im Mai 2000 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Japanese Modern and Contemporary Paintings wurde die Arbeit Chikurin no tsuki (Moon over bamboo grove) für USD 64.625,00 (€ 69.280,66) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 30.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Yokoyama Taikan auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Miho no Fujisan (Mount Fuji from Miho) im November 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 358.000,00 (€ 411.778,24).
