In November 2017 Christies in Hong Kong held the auction Exquisite Eye: Chinese Paintings Online, which included the work Laying By Plum Blossom by Xiao Lisheng. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 13,750.00 (€ 1,480.40), 38% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Xiao Lisheng have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Sleeping Monk/Amitabha in May 2018 with an auction result of HKD 87,500.00 (€ 9,559.77).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 38 % übertroffen
Im November 2017 führte Christies in Hong Kong die Auktion Exquisite Eye: Chinese Paintings Online durch, in der auch die Arbeit Laying By Plum Blossom von Xiao Lisheng zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 13.750,00 (€ 1.480,40) und damit 38% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Xiao Lisheng auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Sleeping Monk/Amitabha im Mai 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 87.500,00 (€ 9.559,77).
