This artwork by Xiao Lisheng achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Hong Kong in May 2019. In the Exquisite Eye: Chinese Paintings Online auction, the work Reading in the Mountains sold for HKD 27,500.00 (€ 3,147.37) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 15,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Xiao Lisheng - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Sleeping Monk/Amitabha, which sold at auction in May 2018 for HKD 87,500.00 (€ 9,559.77).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Xiao Lisheng erzielte im Mai 2019 bei Christies in Hong Kong einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Exquisite Eye: Chinese Paintings Online wurde die Arbeit Reading in the Mountains für HKD 27.500,00 (€ 3.147,37) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 15.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Xiao Lisheng mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Sleeping Monk/Amitabha beobachtet, die im Mai 2018 für HKD 87.500,00 (€ 9.559,77) versteigert wurde.
