Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2019 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Art, which included the work Kaaterskill Falls by Worthington Whittredge. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 60,000.00 – 80,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 62,500.00 (€ 56,058.84) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Worthington Whittredge have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Pine Cone Gatherers in November 2016 with an auction result of USD 360,500.00 (€ 340,801.66).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai 2019 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion American Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Kaaterskill Falls von Worthington Whittredge zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 60.000,00 – 80.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 62.500,00 (€ 56.058,84) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Worthington Whittredge auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Pine Cone Gatherers im November 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 360.500,00 (€ 340.801,66).
