Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Worthington Whittredge could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in June 2020 for an unexpectedly low price. In the American Art auction, the work Seconnet Point From The East End changed hands for USD 52,500.00 (€ 46,745.61) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 60,000.00 – 80,000.00. Admittedly, works by Worthington Whittredge have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Pine Cone Gatherers in November 2016 with an auction result of USD 360,500.00 (€ 340,801.66).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Worthington Whittredge konnte im Juni 2020 bei Sothebys in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion American Art wechselte die Arbeit Seconnet Point From The East End für USD 52.500,00 (€ 46.745,61) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 60.000,00 – 80.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Worthington Whittredge auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Pine Cone Gatherers im November 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 360.500,00 (€ 340.801,66).
