Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2017 Christies in New York held the auction American Art, which included the work October on the Hudson by Worthington Whittredge. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 70,000.00 – 100,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 75,000.00 (€ 66,749.73) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Worthington Whittredge have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Pine Cone Gatherers in November 2016 with an auction result of USD 360,500.00 (€ 340,801.66).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai 2017 führte Christies in New York die Auktion American Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit October on the Hudson von Worthington Whittredge zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 70.000,00 – 100.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 75.000,00 (€ 66.749,73) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Worthington Whittredge auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Pine Cone Gatherers im November 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 360.500,00 (€ 340.801,66).
