This artwork by Worthington Whittredge achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in New York in May last year. In the American Art auction, the work Late Afternoon, Newport 15 x 22 1/4 in. (38.1 x 56.5 cm.) sold for USD 69,675.00 (€ 64,928.71) - well above the upper estimate of USD 30,000.00. Admittedly, works by Worthington Whittredge have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Pine Cone Gatherers in November 2016 with an auction result of USD 360,500.00 (€ 340,801.66).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Worthington Whittredge erzielte im Mai letzten Jahres bei Bonhams in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion American Art wurde die Arbeit Late Afternoon, Newport 15 x 22 1/4 in. (38.1 x 56.5 cm.) für USD 69.675,00 (€ 64.928,71) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 30.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Worthington Whittredge auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Pine Cone Gatherers im November 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 360.500,00 (€ 340.801,66).
