In November 2017 Christies in Hong Kong held the auction Chinese Contemporary Ink, which included the work Huangguoshu Waterfall by Wong Hau Kwei. The auction ended at the price of HKD 60,000.00 (€ 6,459.91), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of HKD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Wong Hau Kwei achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Red Sail in Hong Kong Harbour in November 2021 with an auction result of HKD 1,250,000.00 (€ 138,987.33).
Zuschlag beim oberen Schätzpreis
Im November 2017 führte Christies in Hong Kong die Auktion Chinese Contemporary Ink durch, in der auch die Arbeit Huangguoshu Waterfall von Wong Hau Kwei zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von HKD 60.000,00 (€ 6.459,91) entsprach exakt dem oberen Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von HKD 40.000,00 – 60.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Wong Hau Kwei erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Red Sail in Hong Kong Harbour im November 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 1.250.000,00 (€ 138.987,33).
