In November 2018 Christies in Hong Kong held the auction Chinese Contemporary Ink, which included the work Gorges and Clouds by Wong Hau Kwei. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 100,000.00 (€ 11,286.76), 25% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Wong Hau Kwei achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Red Sail in Hong Kong Harbour in November 2021 with an auction result of HKD 1,250,000.00 (€ 138,987.33).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 25 % übertroffen
Im November 2018 führte Christies in Hong Kong die Auktion Chinese Contemporary Ink durch, in der auch die Arbeit Gorges and Clouds von Wong Hau Kwei zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 100.000,00 (€ 11.286,76) und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Wong Hau Kwei erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Red Sail in Hong Kong Harbour im November 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 1.250.000,00 (€ 138.987,33).
