This artwork by Wong Hau Kwei achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Hong Kong in May 2021. In the Fine Chinese Modern and Contemporary Ink Paintings auction, the work Big Wave Bay sold for HKD 93,750.00 (€ 9,910.10) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 40,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Wong Hau Kwei achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Red Sail in Hong Kong Harbour in November 2021 with an auction result of HKD 1,250,000.00 (€ 138,987.33).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Wong Hau Kwei erzielte im Mai 2021 bei Christies in Hong Kong einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Fine Chinese Modern and Contemporary Ink Paintings wurde die Arbeit Big Wave Bay für HKD 93.750,00 (€ 9.910,10) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 40.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Wong Hau Kwei erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Red Sail in Hong Kong Harbour im November 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 1.250.000,00 (€ 138.987,33).
