Auction result misses estimated price range
In November last year a collector was able to acquire the work Sailboats at Gloucester by Winslow Homer for USD 239,775.00 (€ 232,272.60). This price was achieved in the auction American Art at Bonhams in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 250,000.00 – 350,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Winslow Homer achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Where are the Boats? in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 4,572,500.00 (€ 3,918,166.24).
