It achieved a price of USD 4,462.50 (€ 4,188.57), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 49%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Winslow Homer achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Where are the Boats? in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 4,572,500.00 (€ 3,918,166.24).

Die Arbeit Mending the Tears (c. 1888) von Winslow Homer kam im Mai diesen Jahres bei Bonhams in Hong Kong zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von USD 4.462,50 (€ 4.188,57) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 49%. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Winslow Homer erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Where are the Boats? im Mai 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 4.572.500,00 (€ 3.918.166,24).
