Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Out on a Limb by Winslow Homer was auctioned at Christies in New York in November 2019, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 100,000.00 – 150,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 62,500.00 (€ 56,720.21). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Winslow Homer achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Where are the Boats? in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 4,572,500.00 (€ 3,918,166.24).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Out on a Limb von Winslow Homer im November 2019 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 100.000,00 – 150.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 62.500,00 (€ 56.720,21) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Winslow Homer erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Where are the Boats? im Mai 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 4.572.500,00 (€ 3.918.166,24).
