Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2008 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture, which included the work A Street In Portage by William Samuel Schwartz. The price achieved of USD 18,750.00 (€ 13,315.82) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 15,000.00 – 25,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Samuel Schwartz - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Sun Bathers, which sold at auction in November 2001 for USD 47,000.00 (€ 52,467.07).

Im September 2008 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture durch, in der auch die Arbeit A Street In Portage von William Samuel Schwartz zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 18.750,00 (€ 13.315,82) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 15.000,00 – 25.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von William Samuel Schwartz mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Sun Bathers beobachtet, die im November 2001 für USD 47.000,00 (€ 52.467,07) versteigert wurde.
