It achieved a price of GBP 2,375.00 (€ 2,607.59), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 32%. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Payne - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Shipping lying on the Tamar before Pentillie Castle, which sold at auction in May 2008 for GBP 8,125.00 (€ 10,335.36).

Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 2.375,00 (€ 2.607,59) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 32%. Für andere Arbeiten von William Payne mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Shipping lying on the Tamar before Pentillie Castle beobachtet, die im Mai 2008 für GBP 8.125,00 (€ 10.335,36) versteigert wurde.
