Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2021 Bonhams in New York held the auction American Art, which included the work Head of an Old Woman by William Merritt Chase. The price achieved of USD 5,355.00 (€ 4,744.40) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Merritt Chase achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work I Think I Am Ready Now (The Mirror, The Pink Dress) in May 2008 with an auction result of USD 6,649,000.00 (€ 4,273,136.25).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November 2021 führte Bonhams in New York die Auktion American Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Head of an Old Woman von William Merritt Chase zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 5.355,00 (€ 4.744,40) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Merritt Chase erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit I Think I Am Ready Now (The Mirror, The Pink Dress) im Mai 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 6.649.000,00 (€ 4.273.136,25).
