Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Chanticleer and the fox by William James Webbe was auctioned at Christies in London in December 2019. It changed hands for a price of GBP 47,500.00 (€ 56,139.44) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William James Webbe achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The White Owl. 'Alone and warming his five wits, The white owl in the belfry sits' in December 2012 with an auction result of GBP 589,250.00 (€ 726,708.90).
