Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2016 Christies in London held the auction Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite and British Impressionist Art, which included the work Ruth: An Eastern Gleaner by William James Webbe. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 8,750.00 (€ 10,230.17) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William James Webbe achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The White Owl. 'Alone and warming his five wits, The white owl in the belfry sits' in December 2012 with an auction result of GBP 589,250.00 (€ 726,708.90).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember 2016 führte Christies in London die Auktion Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite and British Impressionist Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Ruth: An Eastern Gleaner von William James Webbe zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 8.750,00 (€ 10.230,17) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William James Webbe erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The White Owl. 'Alone and warming his five wits, The white owl in the belfry sits' im Dezember 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 589.250,00 (€ 726.708,90).
