Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2008 Christies in London held the auction British Art on Paper, which included the work Two studies for 'One Step to the Deathbed' and for 'The Flight of Madeline and Porphyro' by William Holman Hunt. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,200.00 – 1,800.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,250.00 (€ 1,312.86) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Holman Hunt achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Tuscan Girl Plaiting Straw in December 2013 with an auction result of GBP 3,330,500.00 (€ 4,006,074.97).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember 2008 führte Christies in London die Auktion British Art on Paper durch, in der auch die Arbeit Two studies for 'One Step to the Deathbed' and for 'The Flight of Madeline and Porphyro' von William Holman Hunt zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.200,00 – 1.800,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 1.250,00 (€ 1.312,86) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Holman Hunt erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Tuscan Girl Plaiting Straw im Dezember 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 3.330.500,00 (€ 4.006.074,97).
