A top price for William Holman Hunt - as previously expected
In December 2013 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Master & British Paintings Evening Sale, which included the work Tuscan Girl Plaiting Straw by William Holman Hunt. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000,000.00 – 5,000,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,330,500.00 (€ 4,006,074.97) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Tuscan Girl Plaiting Straw is the most expensive artwork by William Holman Hunt that we have observed at auctions so far.
Ein Spitzenpreis mit Ansage
Im Dezember 2013 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Old Master & British Paintings Evening Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Tuscan Girl Plaiting Straw von William Holman Hunt zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 3.000.000,00 – 5.000.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 3.330.500,00 (€ 4.006.074,97) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Auch wenn das Ergebnis damit nicht positiv überraschen konnte, ist Tuscan Girl Plaiting Straw das teuerste Kunstwerk von William Holman Hunt, das wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachtet haben.
