In June 2007 Christies in London held the auction British Art on Paper, which included the work The Mosque Al -'Abbasi, Near Damietta, Egypt by William Holman Hunt. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 4,200.00 (€ 6,232.59), 40% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Holman Hunt achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Tuscan Girl Plaiting Straw in December 2013 with an auction result of GBP 3,330,500.00 (€ 4,006,074.97).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 40 % übertroffen
Im Juni 2007 führte Christies in London die Auktion British Art on Paper durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Mosque Al -'Abbasi, Near Damietta, Egypt von William Holman Hunt zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 4.200,00 (€ 6.232,59) und damit 40% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Holman Hunt erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Tuscan Girl Plaiting Straw im Dezember 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 3.330.500,00 (€ 4.006.074,97).
