Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of Arthur Henry Giles, Aged Twelve, Bust-Length by William Holman Hunt was sold in the British Art on Paper auction at Christies in London in June 2007. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,360.00 (€ 4,986.07) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Holman Hunt achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Tuscan Girl Plaiting Straw in December 2013 with an auction result of GBP 3,330,500.00 (€ 4,006,074.97).

Die Arbeit Portrait of Arthur Henry Giles, Aged Twelve, Bust-Length von William Holman Hunt wurde im Juni 2007 in der Auktion British Art on Paper bei Christies in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 3.360,00 (€ 4.986,07) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
