In February last year Christies in New York held the auction Outsider Art, which included the work Buffalo by William Hawkins. The »bidding war« ended at USD 12,500.00 (€ 11,136.85), 25% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by William Hawkins have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Puma Kitten, circa 1985 in January 2017 with an auction result of USD 85,000.00 (€ 78,747.45).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 25 % übertroffen
Im Februar letzten Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion Outsider Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Buffalo von William Hawkins zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 12.500,00 (€ 11.136,85) und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von William Hawkins auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Puma Kitten, circa 1985 im Januar 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 85.000,00 (€ 78.747,45).
