Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Critter by William Hawkins was auctioned at Christies in January this year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 40,000.00 – 50,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 40,320.00 (€ 37,133.91) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Hawkins - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Puma Kitten, circa 1985, which sold at auction in January 2017 for USD 85,000.00 (€ 78,747.45).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Critter von William Hawkins kam im Januar diesen Jahres bei Christies zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 40.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 40.320,00 (€ 37.133,91) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von William Hawkins mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Puma Kitten, circa 1985 beobachtet, die im Januar 2017 für USD 85.000,00 (€ 78.747,45) versteigert wurde.
