Auction result well in line with expectations
In February last year Christies in New York held the auction Outsider Art, which included the work J and F Supermarket by William Hawkins. The price achieved of USD 21,250.00 (€ 18,932.64) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 15,000.00 – 30,000.00. Admittedly, works by William Hawkins have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Puma Kitten, circa 1985 in January 2017 with an auction result of USD 85,000.00 (€ 78,747.45).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Februar letzten Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion Outsider Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit J and F Supermarket von William Hawkins zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 21.250,00 (€ 18.932,64) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 15.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von William Hawkins auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Puma Kitten, circa 1985 im Januar 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 85.000,00 (€ 78.747,45).
