Auction result well in line with expectations
In January 2020 Christies in New York held the auction Outsider Art, which included the work Dino by William Hawkins. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 8,125.00 (€ 7,324.44) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Hawkins achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Puma Kitten, circa 1985 in January 2017 with an auction result of USD 85,000.00 (€ 78,747.45).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Januar 2020 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Outsider Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Dino von William Hawkins zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 8.125,00 (€ 7.324,44) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Hawkins erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Puma Kitten, circa 1985 im Januar 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 85.000,00 (€ 78.747,45).
