The work Peacock Express, circa 1982 by William Hawkins was auctioned at Christies in New York in January 2020. The auction ended at the price of USD 30,000.00 (€ 27,044.08), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of USD 15,000.00 – 30,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Hawkins - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Puma Kitten, circa 1985, which sold at auction in January 2017 for USD 85,000.00 (€ 78,747.45).
Zuschlag beim oberen Schätzpreis
Die Arbeit Peacock Express, circa 1982 von William Hawkins kam im Januar 2020 bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 30.000,00 (€ 27.044,08) entsprach exakt dem oberen Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 15.000,00 – 30.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von William Hawkins mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Puma Kitten, circa 1985 beobachtet, die im Januar 2017 für USD 85.000,00 (€ 78.747,45) versteigert wurde.
