Auction result misses estimated price range
In June 2005 a collector was able to acquire the work A Pheasant, Pigeon And A Woodcock On A Shelf; And A Mallard, Snipe And Pigeon On A Shelf by William Cruickshank for GBP 540.00 (€ 800.31). This price was achieved in the auction Sporting Art and Dogs at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 600.00 – 800.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Cruickshank - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A cat and mouse with a pheasant and a rabbit in a larder; and Pheasant and a hare in a larder, which sold at auction in June 2000 for GBP 1,527.50 (€ 2,421.28).
