Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by William Cruickshank could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in December 2008 for an unexpectedly low price. In the The Sporting Sale: Equestrian, Wildlife & Maritime Art auction, the work British Hanging Game (Three Works) changed hands for USD 2,188.00 (€ 1,571.95) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 2,500.00 – 3,500.00. Other works by William Cruickshank have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in June 2000 by the work A cat and mouse with a pheasant and a rabbit in a larder; and Pheasant and a hare in a larder at GBP 1,527.50 (€ 2,421.28).
