The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 881.25 (€ 1,265.05) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Other works by William Cruickshank have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in June 2000 the work A cat and mouse with a pheasant and a rabbit in a larder; and Pheasant and a hare in a larder was auctioned for GBP 1,527.50 (€ 2,421.28).
