In May 2008 Sothebys in London held the auction Scottish Pictures, which included the work The Ferry by William Crosbie. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 7,500.00 (€ 9,540.33), 50% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Crosbie - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Universal Female, which sold at auction in May 2014 for GBP 17,500.00 (€ 21,508.06).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 50 % übertroffen
Im Mai 2008 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Scottish Pictures durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Ferry von William Crosbie zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 7.500,00 (€ 9.540,33) und damit 50% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von William Crosbie mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Universal Female beobachtet, die im Mai 2014 für GBP 17.500,00 (€ 21.508,06) versteigert wurde.
