In May 2012 Sothebys in London held the auction British & Irish Art, which included the work An Eastern Beauty by William Clarke Wontner. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 68,450.00 (€ 85,285.69), 37% above the upper estimate. Other works by William Clarke Wontner have achieved even higher prices, we observed the highest auction result so far of GBP 84,000.00 (€ 124,742.63) in November 2006 for the work Valeria.
