The work The Emerald Necklace by William Clarke Wontner was auctioned at Sothebys in London in July 2018. It achieved a price of GBP 45,000.00 (€ 50,454.89), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 50%. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Clarke Wontner - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Valeria, which sold at auction in November 2006 for GBP 84,000.00 (€ 124,742.63).

Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 45.000,00 (€ 50.454,89) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 50%. Für andere Arbeiten von William Clarke Wontner mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Valeria beobachtet, die im November 2006 für GBP 84.000,00 (€ 124.742,63) versteigert wurde.
