This price was achieved in the auction 19th Century and British Impressionist Art at Bonhams and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 12,000.00 many times over. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Clarke Wontner - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Valeria, which sold at auction in November 2006 for GBP 84,000.00 (€ 124,742.63).
