Auction result well in line with expectations

The price achieved of GBP 31,070.00 (€ 48,058.25) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 25,000.00 – 35,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Clarke Wontner - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Valeria, which sold at auction in November 2006 for GBP 84,000.00 (€ 124,742.63).
