Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Three Fox Hounds In A Paved Kennel Yard by William Barraud was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in January 2016, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 3,500.00 (€ 3,231.17). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Barraud achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Sir Edmund Antrobus And The Old Surrey Fox Hounds At The Foot Of Addington Hills in July 2015 with an auction result of GBP 45,000.00 (€ 63,794.89).
