Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work London, a view of the River Thames and Westminster Bridge by William Anderson was auctioned at Sothebys in London in January 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 2,500.00 – 3,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 1,890.00 (€ 2,137.33). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Anderson achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work On The Foreshore At Gosport, Watching A New Arrival Coming In in June 2001 with an auction result of GBP 37,600.00 (€ 62,461.08).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit London, a view of the River Thames and Westminster Bridge von William Anderson im Januar 2021 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 2.500,00 – 3.500,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 1.890,00 (€ 2.137,33) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Anderson erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit On The Foreshore At Gosport, Watching A New Arrival Coming In im Juni 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 37.600,00 (€ 62.461,08).
